Field Service Technician, September 28, 2007

The main responsibility of the Service Technician is to fulfill customer installation, support, repair, and field service needs. The position delivers customer service following established service and operational policies in the field of laser spectroscopy systems in a power plant environment. The successful candidate will have a diverse background including electronic and electromechanical troubleshooting and maintenance, civil or industrial works, some programming skills, direct customer interaction experience, and the ability to travel on short notice.

The primary responsibilities are:

  • An Associate's degree or equivalent in electronics, computer technologies, environmental technologies, or related areas.
  • Extensive hands-on experience operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining electronic equipment. Must have strong ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment without a manual.
  • Practical knowledge of industrial or civil works including electrical wiring and subcontractor management with the ability to use hand tools to install, service systems, and replace parts.
  • Must have prior field experience and be willing to travel and work in sometimes physically demanding (hot, noisy, elevated) environments

Duties include:

  • System assembly, testing, delivery, and installation support.
  • Electronics diagnosis and repair, to include soldering PCB’s, connectors and components.
  • Maintenance of service and repair database to log site visit reports and actions.
  • Sometimes demanding travel to support installation and service nationwide

Field Service Engineer, January 3, 2008

Plan and coordinate installation and field service activities relative to laser spectroscopy systems in commercial power plants. Apply engineering and practical knowledge of field service equipment, systems, and operations to analyze and resolve complex problems in the field.

The position requires:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other related field. In lieu of degree, 5 years experience in the installation and maintenance of electronic systems.
  • Extensive hands-on experience operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining electronic equipment. Must have strong ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment without a manual.
  • Practical knowledge of industrial or civil works including electrical wiring and subcontractor management with the ability to use hand tools to install, service systems, and replace parts.
  • International travel and work in physically demanding (hot, noisy, dirty, elevated) environments.

Duties include:

  • Assist project manager in performing detailed cost estimates; scheduling personnel, equipment, and work flow; and interfacing with customer to meet both customer and company expectations.
  • Develop detailed procedures (may be operations, training, maintenance, qualification test, or inspection) for work on equipment and systems used in commercial power plants.
  • Supervise field service crews comprised of engineers, technicians, and labor support at domestic and international power plant sites.
  • Interfacing with power plant staff to ensure safety protocols are followed; infrastructure and resources are provided.
  • Providing logistical support to ensure installation and repair staff has adequate tools, equipment, parts, training and security clearances.
  • Fiber optic and electrical diagnostic support to give troubleshooting direction to Field Service Technicians.
  • Prepare detailed reports for management and design engineering regarding equipment/systems defects or design deficiencies affecting installation and operations/performance.
  • Maintenance of service and repair database to log site visit reports and actions.
  • Sometimes demanding travel to support installation and service worldwide.

Perform other related duties as assigned
