Zolo Technologies is awarded four Phase I contracts

Boulder, Colorado – October 22, 2004 – Zolo Technologies, Inc. announces that they have been awarded four Phase I contracts, either SBIR or STTR, from the Navy, Air Force, and Department of Energy. All four contracts involve further development of Zolo’s multiplexed spectroscopy sensor technology for combustion optimization and control. Applications of the technology include efficiency improvement and emissions reduction in coal-fired power generation, aeropropulsion combustion sensing, and embedded flight monitoring. “Utilization of these government funds allows us to leverage heavy private investment in Zolo, to provide unique technology to the government, and to further our goal to revolutionize the power generation and aeropropulsion industries by enabling efficiency increases and simultaneous reductions in the emission of pollutants,” says Dr. Andy Sappey Zolo’s CTO and principal scientist on all four projects. “Based on early technical successes, we believe that each project stands a very good chance of being selected for a Phase II award.” Each Phase I project is valued near $100k and each Phase II is worth approximately $750k.

Zolo Technologies, Inc. combines 30 years of manufacturing experience with cutting-edge technology to deliver the state-of-the-art spectroscopy sensors that enable combustion optimization in everything from power plants to jet engines.
